Difference Between Machu Picchu Mountain & Huayna Picchu Mountain
It is the question of many when booking their tour to Machu Picchu, very well below we will see in detail these two options that you should not miss
Is the road difficult? Can I go up if I have vertigo? Can I get up if I never do sports? Internet is full of blogs that put fear on the ascent to Waynapicchu here some useful information.
The ascent to Wayna Picchu is the most famous and adrenalinic excursion that can be done in the ruins of Machu Picchu, and is that it has become very famous in recent years that today if you want to climb the mountain you need to make a fairly early reservation of up to 5 months in advance at most and at least 3 months depending on the season. Although many people believe when they see it and say “it is impossible to climb it it is very steep” and others do not believe that someone with no experience could even climb much lose their entry for fear of failing the first attempt, the truth is that, if you need to be in good shape and have trained or at least have some experience hiking, something you could do months before starting your trip to Peru.
WARNING you will have to reserve 5 months in advance if you want one of the 400 tickets available each day to climb the Huayna Picchu mountain.
After a climb of almost 1 hour you will reach a tunnel and this will take you to the top of the world, the top of Waynapicchu where you will have a breathtaking view of the citadel of Machu Picchu, once up and with the view you will feel that you are filling with good energy and you will understand why the Incas built Machu Pichu.
The view is not only of the citadel of Machu Picchu but also of some important mountains that surround it including snow-capped mountains you can also have a view of the front of the sun and the different sectors.
One thing you shouldn’t be able to do is to realize that the shape of the citadel of Machu Pichu is that of a flying condor which some archaeologists claim would be the real name of Machu Picchu.
Machupicchu Mountain
This mountain is located exactly next to the front of the sun and is the one that is just in front of Wayna Picchu, obviously is much higher (3082msnm to be exact.)
Although many say that the view is not the same as from the Wayna Picchu mountain this is true, as the view from the Machu Picchu mountain is much better.
If you couldn’t book your ticket to Wayna Picchu Mountain, Machu Picchu Mountain would be a good option, It will take you approximately 2 hours of ascent and 1 hour and a half of descent.
Machu Picchu Mountain offers less steep, wider and visually less terrifying trails than Waynapicchu. This hike is ideal if you come with children or older people.
The trails of the Machu Picchu mountain offer long periods of time without seeing anyone and allows you to enjoy longer views, very different to the Huayna mountain, where you will have to wait your turn to be able to use the access route. Both roads have almost the same distance (about 2 km), however, the hike to the top of Huayna Picchu is more vertical than Machu Picchu Mountain and will take you less time.
The Machu Picchu mountain hike allows 800 people to enter each day and the ticket can be booked up to 1 month in advance. But it is better to make your reservation in advance, especially in the months of June, July and August.
