DAY 1- Cusco Airport Transfer – City Tour
On your arrival, we will be picking you up from the airport and will transfer you to your hotel in Cusco. Please note that this is additional service which must be booked separately while booking the tour.
In the afternoon, we will be giving you a detailed tour of Cusco City. On this guided tour, you will be visiting some of the prominent landmarks in the city that played a major role during the Inca civilization.
Our local travel expert will be sharing many interesting facts about the Inca civilization and Andean customs. You will be getting an insight into the history, local life and culture.
DAY 2- Cusco – Maras – Moray – Ollantaytambo – Machu Picchu
We will be picking you up from your hotel in Cusco at 0700 AM. We will then embark on a drive to the Sacred Valley of the Incas.
Farming was the main source of income to the Incas. Villages in the valley favoured them as it has the most fertile soil in the region. This is why it is called Sacred Valley of the Incas.
Chinchero:
We will begin the Sacred Valley tour in Chinchero. It is roughly 45 minutes drive away from Cusco city. Home to Andean Textile weavers, you will be witnessing the whole process of weaving here.
We will then visit the small archaeological site. It now hosts a white washed church which was once a summer palace of Inca emperor, Pachacutec.
Moray:
We will then drive you to Moray. It houses the most photographed circular terraces. This amphi theatre like farming terraces have different levels and each level has different temperature.
To Incas this was an agricultural laboratory. They experiments with different crops here to determine the best weather conditions needed to grow them. Thanks to their advancement, Peru now produces over a thousand variety of potatoes.
Maras:
After a guided tour of Moray, we will be visiting the salt terraces in Maras. These historic salt mines, clinging to the slopes of the canyon have been serving sine the Pre Inca times.
It has been passed down generation after generation. Even today, they practise the traditional Solar evaporation methos to extract salt. Maras Salt is pinkish in colour and has a distinct flavour.
Urubamba:
We will then stop in the heart of the Sacred Valley, Urubamba. Rightly named for its centric location. Here we will be serving you buffet lunch in a local restaurant.
Ollantaytambo:
After relishing a traditional Andean meal, we will drive to Ollantaytambo, the former administrative capital of the Incas. The village is snuggled between two hills, each houses an archaeological site.
Here we will be giving you a guided tour of the prime archaeological complex. It is home to remains of Inca ceremonial sites, temples and farming terraces. The complex was sacred to the Incas.
This is where the infamous battle of Ollantaytambo was fought in 1531. The Sacred site was then turned to a battle ground.
After indulging in the history of Incas here, we will be driving you to the train station.
You will be embarking on a two hours train ride starting amidst the snow capped Andean peak down to the lush tropical jungle in the Peruvian Amazon.
At Aguas Calientes, we will be accommodating you in an ensuite hotel room. Our tour guide will be meeting you here at night to give you some travel information.
Early in the morning, after breakfast, we will be picking you up from your hotel. We will be taking the 25 minutes bus ride up the hill to visit Machu Picchu.
Our local expert will be giving you a two hours guided tour of the Inca city of Machu Picchu. You will be visiting the prime sites like the remains of the royal quarters, Inca temples, ceremonial sites and more.
After the tour, you will have some free time to explore the citadel. If you have permits to climb Huayna Picchu or Machu Pichu mountains, our guide will be directing you to respective trail head.
Sungate
Alternatively, you can hike to the Sungate. It is the point of entrance for those hiking the esteemed Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. From the sungate, you will get a wonderful view of the Inca citadel snuggled between the Andes Mountains.
Once you have had your fill of the emblematic Inca City, we will be taking a bus back to Aguas Calientes. You wil have some free time to saunter through the narrow streets or stop by a local restaurant for lunch.
At 03:20 PM, we will be taking the train back to Ollantaytambo train station. Our driver will be meeting you here and will drive you back to Cusco city. You will be reaching Cusco by 10:00 PM.
Another epic day of this six days Machu Picchu Tour Package. We will be picking you up early in the morning (between 0345 and 0415) for a two hours drive to Cusipata (3,329 m / 12,772 ft.).
Our vehicles are well equipped, so you can wink a nap so that you arrive fresh to start your hike to the Rainbow Mountains.
After breakfast and safety briefing, we will start our two hours uphill hike to the summit of the rainbow mountain at 5,020 meters / 16,470 ft.
The route offers views of the Andean villages. You will spot Andean camelids, Alpacas and Llamas grazing here. The hike could be challenging to some, so if you are not sure of hiking, you can rent a horse at an additional cost.
Rainbow Mountains
Rainbow Mountains of Peru or Vinicunca, as locals refer to it are a natural formations and one of its kind in the whole of South America. It is a result of the mineral deposits.
Rainbow Mountains were discovered in 2016 when the dense snow that covered it started to melt and the colours captured the attention. It soon became the second major attraction, after Machu Picchu.
From the summit, you will be getting a panoramic view of the valley under the mighty Ausangate peak. This is the highest peak in the region and sacred to the Andean community.
Locals refer to it as Apus which in Quechua means father. Before embarking on a journey they always seek permission from their Apus using the sacred coca leaves. Our guide will be explaining this to you during the trek.
After soaking in the pristine views of the Peruvian Andes, we will start our downhill hike. We will be stopping for lunch in Cusipata before returning to Cusco city.
We will be dropping you off at your hotel in Cusco at around 4:30 or 5:30 p.m.

Another early morning trip on this six days Machu Picchu travel Package. We will be embarking on a three hours drive to the remote village of Mollepata. It is at 2,900 masl / 9,515 ft.
We will be serving you a traditional breakfast here and then drive to Soraypampa (3,850 masl / 12,631 ft). This is the starting point of the Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu and Laguna Humantay Trek.
Lake Humantay Trek
After a short safety briefing, we will start hiking through picturesque Andean villages and farms to the iconic Humantay Lake. Just as in the Rainbow Mountain trek, even here you can rent horses.
It normally takes an hour and a half to reach Humantay Lake (4,200 masl / 13 779 feet). The turquoise lake is a glacier lake, melting snow of Mount Humantay feeds the lake.
You will have plenty of time to soak in the pristine views. Here we will enjoy our lunchbox and replenish our energy.
We will then hike back to Soraypampa. On our way back to Cusco, we will be stopping at Mollepata for lunch. We will be reaching Cusco by 0600 PM.

Recommendations
- To do this tour, you must be in Cusco at least 2 days in advance to acclimatize.
- Before going to this Tour, take short walks around Cusco to better adapt to the weather or you can hire short tours. City tour, Sacred Valley, Salineras de Maras – Moray – Chinchero, southern valley or you can also visit Machu Picchu.
- You should drink mate de coca which will help you adapt better to the climate.

Cusco City

Cusco, mythical capital of the Inca Empire, proudly preserves its walls and stone walls, which evoke the greatness of the children of the sun. La Salineras de Maras (The Salt Mines of Maras)
Located at 60 Km. (37 miles) and 7 Km. (4.3 miles) from Moray. In addition to the colonial town of Maras, the Salineras de Maras stands out at a distance of 10 km from the town of Maras (30 minutes by car or 2 hours on foot). Also called Salinas de Maras. They are salt mines whose exploitation is as old as the Tahuantinsuyo. The inhabitants channel the saline water that emanates from the ground – from a water eye called “Qoripujio” – towards pools in which, by effects of the sun, it evaporates leaving in the surface the salt that later is treated to be sold in the local market. The view of the complex of approximately three thousand wells is spectacular. The villagers show visitors their ancestral techniques and allow them to intervene in the collection.
Moray
Archaeological zone located 53 Km. northwest of Cuzco, in which an admirable system of Inca terraces stands out, conformed by enormous terraces superimposed in concentric form like a great coliseum, achieving up to 150 meters in difference of height levels. This technology allowed the ancient Inca farmers to create diverse microclimates, experiment and obtain varieties of plants that would improve their crops. Each terrace has retaining walls and is connected by a complex system of artificial irrigation channels, which is a sample of the high hydraulic technology also reached by the Incas. Considered one of the first genetic laboratories of humanity. The surroundings of Moray are an excellent area for mountain biking and hiking. Its access is in a detour in the highway that joins Chinchero with Urubamba.
Machu Picchu information
It is located to the northwest of Cusco, 129 kilometers above the Urubamba River (hence the name of the Vilcanota River), in the mountains of Vilcabamba. Its altitude is over 2380 m.a.s.l. The citadel of Machu Picchu is one of the most important archaeological sites in the whole world and is the main destination of Peru. Few man-made works show as much harmony with nature as the citadel of Machu Picchu shows us and the 33 archaeological groups that are united by means of the Inka trail.
The archaeological complex is located at the top of the mountain, Machu Picchu (in Quechua means ancient mountain or important mountain) which gives the name to the citadel and the impressive landscape that we have all seen. In front of it, the incredible mountain of Wayna Picchu appears (“young mountain”) in whose top and slopes some archaeological remains are located. Both peaks are bordered by the mighty Urubamba River that runs eastward, 400 meters below the citadel.
Altitude de Machu Picchu
It is 2490 m.a.s.l. taking as reference the Main Square of the archaeological site. According to some scientists, this may have been created 36 thousand years B.C.
Weather in Machu Picchu
As it is located in a subtropical zone, its temperature ranges from 8º to 22º C. The rainiest months are from December to April.
Humantay Lake
This lake formed by the snowmelt Humantay and Salkantay presents a unique landscape of the district of Mollepata (Anta).
As part of the route to Salkantay Mountain, you can access it by walking or mountain biking, as well as it lends itself to some other camping activities.
With a mystical air, the lagoon is visited by shamans and tourists from all over the world to leave offerings to the Pachamama, deity that represents Mother Earth in the Inca culture.
Do I need to speak Spanish to travel in Peru?
The answer is no. Without knowing how to speak Spanish you can travel all over Peru and visit as many places as you want, from the best known to the least crowded. In addition, most tourist sites have guides trained to speak English, a language with which most tourists communicate.
If you want to have a closer trip, experience tourism and get closer to the local communities, speaking Spanish will be a plus that will improve your experience. It should be noted that in the country there are communities and places where other languages are spoken, such as Quechua or Aymara. If you learn just a few basic words in Spanish, there will be no problem moving from one place to another, ordering your food in a restaurant or making a payment.
Is it safe to travel in Peru?
The security conditions in our country in general are good, especially in the cities with more tourist activity. In Peru we are aware that national and foreign travelers seek to have an adventure without unforeseen events. For that reason, in our country we bet for the security and in taking the necessary measures to give stability and confidence to the visitors.
However, local authorities always recommend taking precautions. For example, before traveling to a city, make sure you know which areas to travel through and which not. This is because there are sectors of risk (those that should be avoided), such as the valley of the Rivers Ene, Mantaro and Apurimac. It is also not advisable to travel in very remote and not very crowded areas. As in any other country, there is a risk of theft or robbery.
We advise you to be discreet and not to show anything of value when you walk down the street, as well as to avoid carrying a lot of cash. Is it expensive to travel in Peru?
The answer depends on what places you expect to travel, how long and the products and services you want to buy.
Traveling in Peru is not expensive if you decide to save. You can travel by bus to the destinations you want to visit, buy your breakfasts and lunches in local markets (where you will not miss the best local cuisine). In addition, you can also make advance reservations at the hotel where you will stay to avoid high seasons and prices. If you have a small budget, you can stay in tourist accommodations with shared rooms.
If you have a friend or acquaintance in the place you have chosen to visit, they can help you a lot with the prices, especially when haggling for products in tourist places.
Does it cost much to taste the best gastronomy in Peru?
The cuisine in our country is very varied and is among the best in the world. Restaurant prices are not excessive. As we mentioned, you can find typical dishes and delicacies in markets and small shops for no more than 10 soles.
Tourist or gourmet restaurants can have high prices between 30 or 100 soles per plate. It all depends on where you are. It is best to ask the tourist agencies for recommendations on what to eat and where.
Are vaccinations needed when traveling in Peru?
The only mandatory vaccination is against yellow fever for travelers going to jungle areas below 2300 meters above sea level. That is, for those who travel to the cities of the Amazon, Loreto, Ucayali, Madre Dios, among others. In addition, the Ministry of Health of Peru also recommends vaccination against Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B and malaria. These diseases can have serious consequences if they are not treated in time.
The health conditions in Peru are good, but in the event of any unforeseen event, have the contact details of the nearest hospitals or clinics at hand. Also remember that in the Jorge Chávez International Airport there is a free medical center to apply the vaccine against yellow fever.
Is the climate very variable in Peru?
Yes, it depends on the city you are in. Is a visa required to visit Peru?
It is not required for almost all countries in the Americas and Western Europe. Even nations such as Chile, Ecuador and Bolivia do not need a visa or passport to enter different regions. Can I exchange dollars or euros at Lima airport?
Yes, but try to change as little as possible at the airport, as the exchange rate is not very favorable. It would be best to look for exchange offices in the city or in commercial and safe areas.
Do you have to carry your passport at all times?
If you need this document to enter the country, it is advisable to carry it at all times for identification purposes.
