Moray is one of the famous Inca ruins in the Sacred Valley. The place looks like a Greek amphitheater, however, it was not in fact an aphtheater. It is composed of three groups of circular terraces, they are very large in size, approximately 150 meters deep (490 feet).

As with many other Inca sites, there is still a lot of mystery surrounding Moray ruins, although the most believed theory for this place is that it was planned for agricultural research place. Another popular theory about the Moray ruins is that the circular depressions may have been marks left by extraterrestrials after a UFO landing. Maras Salt Mines

Finally, we will visit the fascinating Maras Salt Mines also known locally as Las Salineras de Maras.
Thousands of shallow pools filled with salt water. Each produces about 150 kg of salt per month. The salt mines resemble a blanket of snow, with different colors. They are mined by local families in the same way as the Incas did 600 years ago.

In this incredible tour you will pass through beautiful high Andean landscapes and a stunning scenery of snow-capped mountains of the Andes.

Chinchero 

You’ll enjoy the traditional handmade weaving demonstration of textiles in Chinchero Village.

# 02 Ollantaytambo – Maras Salt Mines – Pisac – Alpaca Farm

We will be picking you up from Ollantaytambo. Here, we will climb to the highest part to visit the temple of the sun. We will then embark on a hike through a section of the Inca trail until we reach the agricultural sector. 

Here we will have the most beautiful view of the ancient town of Ollantaytambo. We will be exploring some ancient constructions as we will descend to the lower part of the complex. 

Here, we will visit the temple of the condor, as well as some structures between houses, water channels and the temple of water from the time of the Incas.

Maras & Moray

After the local tour of Ollantaytambo we will drive you to the town of Maras. Home to the picturesque salt mines of Maras and circular farming terraces of Moray. 

We will then stop in Urubamba where we will be serving you a buffet lunch. 

Pisac

After relishing a local meal, we will drive you to the town of Pisac. It normally takes about two hours to reach the Inca site here. It is beautifully perched on a hilltop, overlooking the valley. Our local expert will be giving you a guided tour of the complex. 

After the tour, we will be driving you to the Alpaca farm (Awanacancha). Here our guide will be explaining the importance of these Andean Camleids since pre Inca times. 

After this full day trip, at approximately 5pm we will be reaching Cusco.

OLLANTAYTAMBO:

Ollantaytambo (Quechua: Ullantay Tanpu) is an Inca town and archaeological site, capital of the District of Ollantaytambo (Province of Urubamba), located in the south of Peru, about 90 km northwest of the city of Cuzco.

During the incanato, Pachacútec conquered the region and built the town and a ceremonial center. At the time of the conquest it served as a fort for Manco Inca Yupanqui, leader of the Inca resistance. It is the only Inca city in Peru that is still inhabited.

Detailed Itineray of Inca Trail Sacred Valley

Day- 1 Cusco-Sacred Valley-Ollantaytambo

At 07:00 AM, we will be picking you up from your hotel in Cusco. Then in our private transport, we will be driving you to Chinchero.

Chinchero:

To Incas, Chinchero was the mythical birthplace of Rainbow.

Chinchero, one of the most typical towns of the Sacred Valley of the Incas, a town the Spaniards once attempted to incorporate their culture, but did not succeed completely because its inhabitants to this day refuse to leave aside the Inca culture and customs.

The village is popular for the Andean textile industry. People living here continue to dress in their colourful traditional outfits and speak Quechua. This stop is a perfect introduction to the Inca civilization.

The town is not only known for its Inca ruins, but also for its Andean Textile Interpretation Center. In this place, women dressed in traditional costumes give demonstrations on how to clean alpaca hair, how to dye the fibers, how to spin the fiber into yarn, etc. After the demonstration you can walk around and see the products for sale.

Moray:

Once you have had your fill of this site, we will continue the tour to Moray. This is possibly the most impressive sight in the valley. Moray is home to the mysterious circular farming terraces dug into the ground with different levels.

Legends say that each level has a different temperature. This allowed the Incas to determine the best weather condition needed to grow any crop. Moray served as an agricultural laboratory for the Incas.

Maras:

We will then visit Maras. Home to over 5000 salt puddles clinging to the slopes of the canyon, Maras produces the best salt in Peru. People here practise Solar evaporation mentos to extract salt. It has been passed down generation after generation.

They let in freshwaters in these salt pools and wait for it to evaporate. Then they manually scrape out salt. The salt here is pinkish in colour and tastes a bit different. It is also quite nutritious.

We will then visit Urubamba village. Here we will be stopping at a local restaurant where we will be serving you lunch. Urubamba is at a very low altitude in the whole Sacred Valley.

After relishing a traditional Andean lunch, we will be driving you to Ollantaytambo.

Ollantaytambo:

Dominated by two massive Inca ruins, this serene ancient village of Ollantaytambo is the best example of the Inca’s town planning. Designed with narrow cobblestoned streets, the town has been continuously inhabited since the 13th century.

Here we will be visiting the Inca site that nestles overlooking this picturesque village. After the tour, we will be accommodating you in an ensuite hotel room for the night.

Day-2 Short Inca trail – Machu Picchu

We will be picking you up at 0540 AM from your hotel in Ollantaytambo and transferring you to the train station. You will be embarking on a scenic train ride to Km.104, the starting point of the Short Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.

This full-day trek begins with a short uphill hike. We will be visiting an archaeological site called Chachabamba where you will get a detailed insight into the Inca civilization.

Wiñay Wayna:

Once you had your fill of Chachabamba, we will be hiking for two hours to Wiñay Wayna. In Quechua, the name signifies forever young. This is one of the most impressive sites along the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.

Our tour guide will be giving you a detailed tour of the complex. After the tour, we will stop for lunch at the campsite.

We will then hike the last section of the Inca Trail to the emblematic Sungate. Only those on Inca Trail to Machu Picchu enter the citadel through Sungate. We will have a brief stop here so our guide will give you an introduction to the iconic lost city of Incas that would be in front of you.

We will be taking a bus down to Aguas Calientes town. Here we will be accommodating you in an ensuite hotel room for the night.

Day 3 Machu Picchu – Cusco

At 0600 AM, we will be taking the bus from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu. It will be a 25-minute drive up to the lost city of the Incas. As you will be entering the citadel, you will witness the golden rays of the morning sun shimmering on the mortar walls of Machu Picchu.

Our guide will be giving you a detailed two hours tour of the complex. On this tour, you will be visiting the main square, remains of the quarters and Inca temples, ceremonial sites and more.

After the tour, you will have some free time. If you have booked to hike Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu mountain, our guide will be directing you to the respective trailhead.

Day trip To Pisac From Cusco

Take a tour of the Pisac ruins in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. The ruins are interesting and there is a great view of the Sacred Valley from them. The site is slightly different from the other Incan sites. We will pick you up from your hotel or Ollantaytambo train station. Our first place to visit is the amazing temple of Ollantaytambo, here you will have about 1 hour of guided tour. Then we will head to Maras Salt Mines, the town of Maras is known as an ancient salt production center and is believed to date back to pre-Inca times.

Note: (according to the regulations of the ministry of culture, it will no longer be possible to walk in the salt ponds due to contamination. It will only be observed through a lookout poitn).

After this we will see to the farming laboratory in Moray, a great series of circles of terraces in the ground that were once used by the Incas for crop experimentation.

At the end of the tour if you wish to return to your hotel in Ollantaytambo we will drop you off there but if you wish to be dropped off in Cusco then we will visit a local family on our way to Cusco, there, you will see a demonstration of how to make beautiful natural alpaca wool sweaters. Itinerary of Pisac Tour & Alpaca Farm

We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco at 7:00 am and get you into the Sacred Valley. Our first stop is Taray lookout point from where you will have the most amazing view over the Sacred Valley.

We continue to get to Pisac ruins and also reach the Intiwatana Inca site, exploring the full site for around 3 hours with the best views and learning from your local tour guides who will take you back to the past and make you feel like at home  at the same time and safe.

After exploring the amazing Inca site we will take our private car and go down back to Pisac town to visit the Local Market of Pisac. Then we will drive for 20 minutes to Lamay or the Guinea pig town for lunch where you will have the chance to taste our andean guinea pig on stick ( Optional ).
